What are the factors affecting performance of aluminum honeycomb cores?
The aluminum honeycomb core is manufactured on the aluminum honeycomb core production line by gluing aluminum foil with special honeycomb node adhesive. The factors affecting the performance of aluminum honeycomb cores mainly include aluminum foil, gluing adhesive and honeycomb core specifications.
1. Aluminum honeycomb core specifications
The specifications of the aluminum honeycomb core are determined by the thickness of the aluminum foil and the honeycomb cell size. Different specifications of the aluminum honeycomb have different densities and different mechanical properties.
2. Node glue
The node glue should be epoxy modified high temperature curing glue, which can not only provide sufficient bonding strength but also has excellent environmental resistance and good temperature resistance. Common adhesives tend to degummed the aluminum honeycomb core due to their low strength, causing overall damage and instability. The node strength of the aluminum honeycomb core is the main basis for evaluating its performance, and the node strength data should be ≥2.0N/mm. (Refer to the Aviation Industry Standard of the Ministry of Aerospace Industry of the People's Republic of China HB5443-90 "Specifications for Durable Aluminum Honeycomb Core Materials for Sandwich Structures")
3. Aluminum foil
Aluminum foil should be alloy 3003 or 5052 grades, and strict surface treatment should be carried out during the processing. In products with high strength or durability requirements, aluminum honeycomb core materials made of 1100 pure aluminum foil should be used with caution.
In conclution, when you choose aluminum honeycomb cores, remember to take the aluminum foil type, aluminum cell size and bonding strength into consideration.
